Minimum 60% aggregate in one of the following qualifying degrees:

  • BE / B.Tech / M.Tech / MSc in Computer Science, IT, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Analytics, Software Systems, System Administration & Networking, Computer Systems & Networking, Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, or related streams.
  • MCA with BCA / BSc (Computer Science / IT) as qualifying UG degree.

Final-year students of the above qualifying degrees are also eligible to apply. If selected, they must submit proof of completing the degree with minimum 60% marks to joinindiannavy.gov.in by June 2026.

Selection Process
  1. Application Shortlisting (Merit-Based): Applications will be shortlisted based on normalized marks obtained in the qualifying degree. BE / B.Tech candidates are shortlisted using marks up to a specified semester. PG candidates (MSc / MCA / M.Tech) are considered on available semester marks. Only shortlisted candidates will receive SSB call-up letters.
  2. SSB Interview (Services Selection Board): Shortlisted candidates will be called for a 4 to 5-day SSB Interview, which is a comprehensive assessment covering psychological tests, Group Task Officer (GTO) tasks, personal interview, and conference. This is the primary and toughest selection filter.
  3. Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by the SSB will undergo a detailed medical fitness examination as per Indian Navy standards (SHAPE-I criteria). Candidates must be physically and medically fit.
  4. Document Verification: Original documents including educational certificates, DOB proof, English marks, and other credentials will be verified at this stage.
  5. Final Merit List & Appointment: Final selection will be based on SSB performance, medical fitness, document verification, and availability of training vacancies. Selected candidates will be commissioned as Sub Lieutenants in the Indian Navy Executive (IT) Branch for the January 2027 course at INA Ezhimala, Kerala.
